I’ve been an esthetician since 2007 and even though I wasn’t sure if it was gonna be my career for long, I knew that the skin care knowledge I learned would be beneficial for life.

But here’s the thing about skincare – it’s not just about the products you use; it’s about the ritual. Taking those few minutes in the morning and evening to care for your skin isn’t just about achieving that coveted glow; it’s about making time to take care of yourself in a world that’s constantly on the go.

So, grab a cup of coffee (or tea, if that’s more your style), and let’s dive into some simple steps tailored specifically for those of us with jam-packed schedules.

Keep it Simple, Sweetie

When it comes to skincare, simplicity is key – especially when you’re short on time. Instead of overwhelming yourself with a complicated 10-step routine, focus on the basics: cleansing, moisturizing, and sun protection.

THE DETAILS:

Cleanse

(AM/PM)– Depending on your skin type choose the right cleanser for your skin.  Cleansing helps to remove makeup, dirt, grime and oil.  It also helps aid in the cell renewal process.

Cleansing Ritual: As you massage the cleanser onto your skin, take a moment to breathe in the soothing scent and let go of any tension from the day.

Moisturize

(AM)- Moisturize and don’t forget the sunscreen!! Invest in a daytime moisturizer with sunscreen, so you don’t have to buy a moisturizer and a sunscreen separately.  Using a sunscreen daily helps protect your skin against extrinsic factors such as the sun, wind and pollution. 

Pro Tip: Did you know that the sun is the #1 cause of aging? Think of sunscreen as the ultimate act of self-care – safeguarding your skin against damage and preserving its youthful radiance for years to come.

(PM)- After a long day of hustling and bustling, your evening skincare can become your sanctuary – a moment of calm amidst the chaos. At night, apply moisturizer last. Ingredients in moisturizers help retain water in your skin.  Advanced ingredients help skin optimize normal cell and collagen production.

As you can see, a skin care routine only takes minutes out of your day. Making it a habit and retaining consistency is key in easily turning it into part of your daily routine. Here’s some helpful tips to get you going:

Just like preparing your meals in advance can save you time and stress during the week, prepping your skincare products can make your routine more manageable. Set aside a few minutes each evening to organize your products for the next day, so you can grab and go when you’re in a rush.
